It was a great year in the garden this year! We harvested over 400 pounds of produce for the Worthington Resource Pantry, grew hundreds of plants, presented at the Worthington Farmers Market, The Worthington Science Day, the Worthington Green Team Pollinator Pathway Party, Green on the Green and more. We gave away dozens of native gardens, expanded our worm composting, built a new fence-- and a proper gate!!!-- put in a cistern and drip irrigation system, made healthy snacks, dried herbs, made soap, planted 12 native trees, refreshed the Linworth Labyrinth, and, as of this writing, our sweet potato vines are still alive. Over the summer, we will continue the labyrinth glow-up, prepare the area for our Native Food Forest, harvest using new and improved harvesting techniques, experiment with rain water collection, and probably eat some homemade herb flavored ice cream.
Monday, May 19th will be our last Phyte Club meeting of the school year. Our summer schedule is:
Phyte Club on Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 pm starting June 3rd.
Garden Community Days on Saturdays from 9:00-11:00 am starting June 7th.
I'm so proud of all of the students who participated in garden programming this year! Your creativity, resilience, perseverance, and positive attitudes make the garden the wonderful place that it is. Have a great summer! I hope to see you at the garden!
